There's nothing fun about how elephants are treated in the circus. Trainers scare elephants into performing tricks by whipping them, shocking them, and beating them with bullhooks over and over again.
Elephants are highly intelligent, thoughtful, and loving animals. In fact, they have the largest brains of any land animal! One of the amazing things that they've been spotted doing is using sticks and other tools to swat away flies or scare away enemies. And get this: If elephants see a member of another species, including humans, in danger, they'll try to help them. That's why we should return the favor by doing whatever we can to help elephants who are suffering in circuses. How's that, you ask? By not going to the circus, of course!
Remember: Every time that you buy a ticket to a circus or other event that uses animals for entertainment, you're supporting cruelty to animals. So don't do it. It's that simple. The more that people stay away from the circus, the more circuses will be forced to shut down, which is GREAT news for animals.
